I am in the middle of editing their wedding right now, but had to take a break to blog something! We shot some quick bridals before the ceremony. Tracee was the most chill- laid back bride! Not to mention she is a friend- so this was a very fun day. I cannot wait to share more from their beautiful and fun wedding. stay tuned!

My friend Kahlei and I traveled to Austin, TX for a session of this happy little dude. 3 months is usually an impossible age to photograph. Luckily, Grayson was so good! He even took a long nap in a hard bowl in the yard while I was poking him around. Congratulations to April and Todd on their cute little bundle- what a whirlwind of a year! We battle some pretty intense nature here in south Texas. After shooting one too many sessions in sandals I decided it was time...before I run into a snake. eek. I did find some fancy boots the other day and splurged. Pretty much what I am saying is that I look pretty cute while doin' my thing :) HA

Cancelled --then back on... cancelled again--and the back on!!! so happy the rained stopped for a bit so I could photograph some of my favorite girls. Another example of not realizing locations that have always been right in front of me-- our company! My dad owns a furniture company (Lancaster Industries) in Cuero, Texas.... I found myself wondering around the other day waiting to take pictures of some tables and found these treasures! Old trucks and a lot of rusty ugly stuff.

Usually I am trying to pry personalities out of kids.... this time I was trying to do just the opposite. Sam kept giving me thumbs up, Jack was giving bunny ears, Annie was acting nutty, and Lily- they perfect baby- was crying! They were very ready to go hunt eggs-- I was thrilled with what we ended up with from out little impromptu photo-shoot. Never a dull moment ;)

Aghhhh-- I have missed this little guy! What a session- only in the country will you ever experience things like slime in the trough, fleas in the dirt, large aunt piles, cactus, very pokey flowers, and a little model who can handle it all. You had to be there to believe it! No worries- I had my trusty tall rain boots so the wilderness would not slow me down. Now that Kelton is older- he moves a lot more!!!

I think we went all over DeWitt county for these fantastic country locations. This family had access to some fantastic rustic goodness. These 2 even grew up working at the Livestock Auction-- so we HAD to shoot there. Kyle is graduating from Cuero High School and his sister, Paige, is graduation from Texas State University. Congrats to them both and thanks for listening to me go on and on about the fun locations. You guys rocked! xo

S0-- if you are not from a small Texas town, you may not completely understand small town sports. IT'S A BIG DEAL! If you are a high school sports fan, you have more than likely heard of this guy. Tyler is going somewhere and has that fantastic southern gentleman personality to match his talent. I dragged him to every rusty masculine thing I could find. I was thrilled when Ashley's mom called me to take her senior portraits. I practically watched her grow up and cannot believe she is a Senior in high school. When my family lived in Cuero, we lived next to them and were at each others' houses daily. This session was so natural and so fun. I do not think this girl has a CLUE how freakishly beautiful she is. I have many more to edit, but had to share some of my favorites so far.... oh- big brother Cody was also a real trooper. I always feel bad for my friends when their parents are hire me- ha ha.... he was great though, and it was so good to catch up!

I couldn't imagine a better location for a small intimate wedding. Marriage Island on the San Antonio river-walk was a great setting for this early morning ceremony. A brunch reception followed at the well known Guenther House restaurant. Love was definitely in the air. Congratulations again to the McCormicks-- best wishes! xo

My favorite tiny detail of the wedding was a handmade cards from 2 of the Hudson girls saying, "I hope your wedding goes good." Taped inside was a flower and some of their allowance money! melts my heart

I know, crazy, 2 posts in one day. Just couldn't resist.

I just had to express how I felt today about the customer service I had from a lady at La Madeline today. I decided to treat myself and grab my favorite chicken caesar salad for lunch. As soon I walked in, the lady behind the register made me feel so special like I was walking into her very own kitchen and had known her for years. I ordered the usual.....and added a dessert. We laughed about how I was eating well with a salad, so that I could be bad. A real "you go girl" kind of attitude. She rang me up and handed me a large cup and lid with my receipt...."Go fill that up with whatever you want from the fountain on us." so nice! Then when I came back, she package my things and explained that they gave me extra chicken because she packaged it and so did the salad man. She said she did not want it to go to waste. super! Then she went on to explain how she doesn't mind doing things like that as it makes her even happier than the satisfied customer and has been doing it lately with the valentines day cookies.... as she slips a package into my to go bag. Score! So, besides all of the extra calories added to my lunch, I left there will a huge smile and a full heart. Even a simple genuine smile would have made my day!

As you can see, I ate most of the dessert on the way home, but I still have those perfect little heart cookies..... If I can give them to someone else just to make them smile then it is so worth it. You vote- who should I deliver them to just because!

I get such a thrill out of finding new great locations! I found this vehicle graveyard (next to a real graveyard) by simply looking with a different perspective at my surroundings.. I have seen this area so many times and BAM- I see it like it is totally new. I cannot wait to use it in some upcoming senior photo-shoots!!

It is a bit harder to find easy to get to locations around San Antonio, so please keep your eyes peeled and let me know! xo

Something in the water.....

I took a little road trip to Houston with a very close photographer friend of mine a few weeks back. It is always so much fun to shoot with another photographer... especially when the subject is this adorable! Thank you Mikey and De for the fun visit and congratulations on baby Samantha Jane:)

So-- I have learned a big lesson this week....schedule maternity sessions a little bit earlier! Explanation: I am an (again self-proclaimed) aunt as of yesterday to the tiny and beautiful Lily Anne Musch!!!! Family first- hence I have been a very very bad blogger. What a rollercoaster life has been for the Musch family lately, but well worth the anticipation. Even though I did not get the belly pics we were hoping for there will be MANY upcoming sessions with the little beauty. Thank you God for a safe delivery for Lindsey and baby.

I am so glad I was able to squeeze this session in during the holidays. The Droupys live in Dallas, so it was perfect timing to meet back in our hometown while visiting family. Last time I saw the oldest, Landry, He was so little, Lane was a baby, and Lennon didn't even exist. (I know, fantastic names!!) Their sweet and beautiful mom and their hilarious dad have their hands full and I am sure never has a dull moment....maybe someday a Droupy girl?!?! ha ha I had a lot of fun this session and am thrilled it worked out. Still behind on posting, but it is giving me more time to compile my multiple new years resolutions!

Tate and Maren CRACK ME UP. I think I laughed this entire session.... for example:

They dressed up as Toy Story characters for Halloween, so naturally I start quoting Woody, and Tate joins in. Then, Maren adds in screaming, "THERE'S A SNAKE IN MY BUTT" .... (it is supposed to be boot!). She also made me sing a Keith Urban song. That is probably why they are cracking up in this picture... I cannot sing :) I love this picture so much it deserved a post all on it's own. xoxo

These 2 small town kids will soon be living happily ever after-- but here is a little about them. Scott proposed by setting up a wine tasting tour in Fredericksburg with Kim's cousins and other family members...all along Kim was thinking it was a surprise birthday party. The ring box was wrapped just like all the other gifts, but was empty.... Scott asked her to marry him with all of their loved ones around.... oh- and of course she said yes! "I do not think she heard a word I said!" Scott says.... he he-- too cute

What gets on your nerves, but you couldn't imagine living without?

Scott does NOT take the most direct route to places and it drives me absolutely INSANE!! I guess living in Cuero all my life, I have specific routes I take to certain places, and when he is driving to those places and doesn't go my way it drives me nuts!! It is so frustrating, but when I think about it, I have to laugh about it!

Silly Sisters

You never really know what to expect when photographing young children. Little Mia and Mayson are spunky little girls and so fun to be around.... I knew the girls prior to the session, but that didn't matter to Mia when the camera came out... needless to say, she was not my biggest fan anymore. LOL -- it took some serious bribing and some very creative background work, but we finally got that fun little personality to shine through. Mayson on the other hand had NO problem workin' it for the camera and took full advantage of the extra time she got while Mia was calming down. Thanks Rachel and John Henry for letting me put stickers all over you and for being so flexible!! I love the images we ended up with-- it was worth the hard work and all the money you had to pay our little models... xoxo

I liked this random bike painted on scrap-wood so much that I went back and bought it. It is now in our Kitchen and is one of my favorite props now!

This family was so great to be around!!! It was a fantastic evening, but was cut short from...RAIN! (very rare in San Antonio these days) -- but I am still very excited about all of the great shots we got. Baby Jude is the happiest baby and so beautiful. Chris will be starting his adventure this week which will eventually lead to Afghanistan for a year. This is his second deployment as he was in Iraq in 2006-2007. He is a Captain and a Company Commander within the Battalion and is a Military Intelligence officer. Most important, he is a wonderful father and husband and will be very missed. Thanks for everything you do-- I am blessed to know you :)

Here are a few pics to share from a few weeks ago... Parker is Kendra's (my Cuero senior rep) brother. Parker goes to school at Sam Houston-- yes college, but got out of taking senior portraits because he graduated early. His sweet mom wanted to make sure he isn't suffering too much from middle child syndrome and wanted to get some current pics of him. He was a trooper and surprisingly very natural in front of the camera... makes me think he had been practicing just for this shoot ;) I am not going to go into how beautiful his eyes and smile are because that would just be weird as he is my one of my peers- and a friend of my boyfriend... lol

I am so proud and blessed to know this family. A wonderful husband and father has left for his second call of duty to the USAF to Kabul Afghanistan for a 6 month deployment. I can officially say that I am now a fan of golf-- NEVER thought I would say that! I was so lucky to get this gig. I learned a lot and really loved every minute of it.... especially getting to work with my significant other who happens to be a golf & football fanatic. Thank goodness, because he knew all the golfers, football players, and rules! I really hope this doesn't go to his head, but I really could not have done it without him. I put a few of these pictures on facebook & used them in a senior promo, but never blogged my favorites! This is my beautiful cousin Audrey. I am so blessed to be able to say that she is one of my very best friends. I am so proud of her for being accepted into a very competitive nursing program!!! It is so funny how the older we get, the closer we seem in age.... very different than when we were little and biting and pulling out each others' hair out. I love her so much : )

happiest moment together?

I would say my happiest moment with Jan would have been in Thailand on Koh Phi Phi Island hanging out on the longboats. This was really where I had the realization that I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her. I think trips make or break some couples. Traveling with her is just so great. She's so laid back, easygoing, beautiful, .....you get the picture.

when we first met i thought:

i love her because:

She really cares alot about people. She's very smart, kind, and beautiful.... All of that mushy stuff you know, that's Jan. I'm so glad we are going to share the same path.

Janitha about Chris:

what gets on your nerves about him, but you couldnt imagine living without?
bahhhh!!!! cooking scrambled eggs at every god awful hour of the night! chris is a master egg-cooker and he taught me how to make them. i took pride in my eggs and he loves them! hes known to ask for eggs at 1 and 2 in the morning and if we are out of milk or eggs i am known to leave the house and go to the nearest gas station [also at 1 and 2 in the morning] in order to make the eggs! its such a compliment to be able to also be a master egg cooker in a strong family line of master egg cookers and honestly i cannot wait to cook eggs at 2 am for the rest of my life!!

when we first met i thought:

wow this guy is gorgeous! i cant believe my mom taught him kindergarten 20 something years ago! whoa should i be thinking about how gorgeous a guy is during midnight christmas eve church service? sorry, lord...but thanks for bringing him into my life, even if just to meet this one time...

if money was not an issue, what gift would you want to give him?

i think ive already given it to him...my love and trust and committment. if we're talking 'things' then i would buy him his own secluded remote island somewhere over near asia. we could live tax free, chill with villagers, surf and swim, and declare ourselves the king and queen. id also buy him third eye blind and axl rose! im corny as well...:)

I am pouting because I miss NYC-- I was so lucky to be able to travel to such an awesome city for this fantastic session. Our good friends, Chris and Janitha, will be getting married this fall-- I can only imagine how spectacular it will be :)

I feel so lucky to have been asked to do the photo shoots I have done lately. I just got home from new york-- amazing engagement session of close friends (will post later!)

This week I have been in Austin, TX shooting a Champions Tour golf tournament. Kelton 5 Months

Baby K time again! 5 Months old now and getting even cuter and bigger. He was so happy to be chillin' outside- soakin in this beautiful weather!!! I am just beginning to edit this session but wanted to post these. I am just gonna put it out there that I DO NOT love manicured lawns and perfect flower beds in pictures.... mother nature has done a great job sending us the rain- now we have wispy fields to play in :)

This family lives on beautiful land in the country-- but... in those wispy fields comes real wildlife. Not bunnies and chicks this month.... a snake!!! baby copperhead at that. It was not in the area we were shooting though (dad checked that very well before we started). It was super-grandma that spotted it and and calmly held it under a shovel until we were finished... she didn't even flinch!! What an awesome lady if you ask me-- You rock Soupy! She is also my assistant behind the scenes in every one of Kelton's photo-shoots. I owe her big for the ridiculous things she has done to make them work! xoxo
